Coventry 1-0 Sheffield Utd: The Sky Blues leave it late to secure win

Coventry City beat Sheffield United with a 1-0 victory on Wednesday at Coventry Building Society Arena. Coventry were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run, following a 1-0 victory against Cardiff City. Sheffield U, meanwhile, had secured a point against Blackpool in their previous match. Coventry are now in 23rd place on the table and have 13 points while Sheffield U sit in 4th with 25 points after 16 matches.

After a goalless first half, Coventry applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Martyn Waghorn just before the final whistle. The match ended 1-0 to Coventry.

Substitutions for Coventry included Gustavo Hamer, Martyn Waghorn, Kasey Palmer and Fabio Tavares for Fankaty Dabo, Matt Godden, Jamie Allen and Martyn Waghorn, respectively. Sheffield U replaced Rhys Norrington-Davies, Thomas Doyle and Chris Basham for James John McAtee, John Fleck and Billy Sharp.

There were bookings for Ben Sheaf, Fankaty Dabo and Kyle McFadzean from Coventry. For Sheffield U, James John McAtee saw yellow.

Coventry will next travel to Stoke City, while Sheffield U will face Norwich City at home.
