Coventry 0-1 North End: The Lilywhites blank Coventry to secure away win

Preston North End’s 1-0 win over Coventry City on Wednesday, was hard fought at Coventry Building Society Arena. Coventry were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 3-2 to Hull City in their previous fixture. North End, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Cardiff City. Coventry are now in 24th place on the table and have 1 point while North End sit in 9th with 11 points after 7 matches.

After an uneventful first half, North End continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Emil Riis gave them the lead, at 73 minutes. The match ended with a 1-0 win for North End.

Substitutions for Coventry included Fankaty Dabo, Gustavo Hamer, Kasey Palmer and Fabio Tavares for Josh Eccles, Ben Sheaf, Martyn Waghorn and Michael Rose, respectively. North End brought on Alan Browne, Emil Riis and Alvaro Fernandez, to replace Benjamin Woodburn, Ched Evans and Brad Potts.

There were bookings for Ben Wilson from Coventry. For North End, Jordan Storey and Ali McCann saw yellow.

Coventry will next travel to Norwich City, while North End will face Birmingham City at home.
