Coventry 0-1 Burnley: The Clarets back on track with narrow road win

Burnley defeated Coventry City 1-0 on Saturday at Coventry Building Society Arena. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. Coventry were aiming to improve their league standing after a scoreless draw against Bristol City in their previous match. Burnley had secured a point against Stoke City in their previous match. Coventry and Burnley are 24th, (7 points) and 4th, (22 points), in the table respectively, after 14 matches.

The Clarets started the first half well, when Nathan Tella found the net, at 39 minutes, concluding the first half 1-0. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 1-0.

Substitutions for Coventry included Josh Eccles, Fabio Tavares, Michael Rose, Matt Godden and Todd Kane for Callum Doyle, Kasey Palmer, Kyle McFadzean, Tyler Walker and Fankaty Dabo, respectively. Burnley brought on Charlie Taylor, Johann Gudmundsson, Connor Roberts and Ashley Barnes, to replace Louis Beyer, Anass Zaroury, Nathan Tella and Jay Rodriguez.

There were bookings for Viktor Gyokeres from Coventry, and Louis Beyer, Jack Cork and Ian Maatsen, for Burnley.

Coventry will play their next game away against Cardiff City, while Burnley will face Swansea City at home.
