Burnley 2-1 Reading: The Clarets stay at the summit with home win

Burnley eased past Reading in a 2-1 victory on Saturday at Turf Moor. Both Burnley and Reading arrived on the back of wins. Burnley were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Reading, meanwhile, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-0 victory against Bristol City. Burnley and Reading currently occupy 1st and 11th spots in the league, with 35 points and 25 points respectively after 18 matches.

After an uneventful first half, The Royals took the initiative in the second half, when Tom Ince found the net, at 56 minutes. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Manuel Benson in the 66th minute brought The Clarets level. Burnley then scored again and turned the match thanks to a goal from Anass Zaroury just before the full time to give a final score of 2-1.

Substitutions for Burnley included Manuel Benson, Vitinho, Conrad Egan-Riley and Halil Dervisoglu for Johann Gudmundsson, Connor Roberts, Samuel Bastien and Nathan Tella, respectively. Reading brought on Junior Hoilett, Tyrese Fornah and Shane Long, to replace Tom McIntyre, Ovie Ejaria and Yakou Meite.

There were bookings for Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Manuel Benson and Arijanet Muric from Burnley, and Rahman Baba, Tom Holmes, Mamadou Loum and Tom Ince, for Reading.

Burnley will play their next game at home against Rotherham United, while Reading will face Luton Town away.
