Bristol City 0-1 Sheffield Utd: The Blades bank tight away victory

Sheffield United strolled past Bristol City with a 1-0 win on Tuesday at the Ashton Gate. Bristol arrived with the intention of improving their league position after a 1-1 draw against Swansea City. Sheffield U, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-0 victory against West Bromwich Albion. Bristol are now in 14th place, with 22 points from 19 matches, while Sheffield U sit in 3rd, with 32 points from 19.

After an uneventful first half, The Blades certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with an early goal from Iliman Ndiaye in the 49th minute, which sealed the victory for the visitors.

Substitutions for Bristol included Antoine Semenyo, Chris Martin and Joe Williams for Mark Sykes, Nahki Wells and Matty James, respectively. Sheffield U brought on James John McAtee, Oliver McBurnie, Enda Stevens and Ciaran Clark, to replace Reda Khadra, Billy Sharp, John Fleck and Chris Basham.

The referee booked Alex Scott, Matty James and Joe Williams from Bristol and George Tanner went off with a red card, while Sheffield U’s James John McAtee, Iliman Ndiaye, John Egan, Ciaran Clark and George Baldock also received a yellow.

Bristol will play away against Middlesbrough, while Sheffield U will face Burnley at home.
