Bristol 1 – Birmingham 2: Blues, fearless, go to the Ashton Gate and win

Birmingham City strolled past Bristol City with a 2-1 win on Saturday at the Ashton Gate. Both teams arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. Bristol were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Nottingham Forest. Birmingham lost 2-0 in the last match they played against Huddersfield Town. As the table looks today, both teams are on 40 points and sit in 19th and 18th places respectively after 36 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Blues, thanks to an early goal from Tahith Chong in the 3rd minute. Birmingham then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Nico Gordon, 14 minutes in, to take a 0-2 lead into half time.

Bristol started the second half with an intensified spirit, with an early goal from Alex Scott in the 48th minute, leaving the final score at 2-1.

For Bristol, Robert Atkinson, Cameron Pring and Nahki Wells, came on for Sam Bell, Timm Klose and Matty James. Birmingham brought on Scott Hogan, to replace Onel Hernandez.

There were bookings for Timm Klose and Alex Scott from Bristol, and Gary Gardner, for Birmingham.

Bristol will next play Blackburn Rovers away, with Birmingham facing Hull City at home.
