Blackpool 4-2 Preston: Seasiders win six-goal thriller at Bloomfield Road

Blackpool’s 4-2 win over Preston North End on Saturday, was hard fought at Bloomfield Road. Blackpool were looking forward to playing again after losing their last match 3-1 to Hull City. North End were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against Huddersfield Town in their last match. Blackpool are now in 17th place, with 19 points from 17 matches, while North End sit in 9th, with 22 points from 17.

Blackpool dominated the first half, when Jerry Yates found the net on the 31 minute mark. However, their lead was short-lived, as Ben Whiteman equalised for North End, at 38 minutes and saw the first half out 1-1.

Blackpool continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Charlie Patino gave them the lead in the 68th minute. Blackpool looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a second effort from Jerry Yates, 81 minutes in to establish a 3-1. However, The Lilywhites refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Callum Connolly, 89 minutes in. Blackpool increased their advantage thanks to a goal from CJ Hamilton just before the full time, seing the match finish 4-2.

Substitutions for Blackpool included Sonny Carey, Rhys Williams and Dominic Thompson for Liam Bridcutt, Jordan Thorniley and James Husband, respectively. North End brought on Bambo Diaby, Sean Maguire, Robbie Brady, Ched Evans and Alan Browne for Gregory Cunningham, Ryan Ledson, Benjamin Woodburn, Jordan Storey and Ali McCann.

There were bookings for Charlie Patino from Blackpool. For North End, Alvaro Fernandez and Jordan Storey saw yellow.

Blackpool will next play Coventry City away, with North End facing Middlesbrough at home.
