Blackpool 3-3 Bristol City: Bloomfield Road sees high-scoring draw

On Saturday, Blackpool and Bristol were held to a 3-3 draw at Bloomfield Road. Blackpool wanted to continue adding points after a 3-3 draw against Burnley. Bristol were coming from consecutive wins against Cardiff City and Luton Town. After today’s result, both teams are on 8 points and sit in 11th and 7th places respectively after 6 matches.

Blackpool started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Josh Bowler gave Blackpool the lead early in the first half. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Tommy Conway equalised for Bristol just before halftime, which brought Nigel Pearson’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break

Blackpool fought back the second half, when Jerry Yates gave Blackpool the lead, 57 minutes in. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from Antoine Semenyo in the 63rd minute, brought Bristol level. The momentum was now with The Robins, who then scored again through a goal from Marvin Ekpiteta at the 70 minute mark to establish a 3-2. In the end though, their lead was short lived, as Theodor Corbeanu equalised for Blackpool just before the final whistle. The final result, Blackpool 3, Bristol 3.

Both teams used all available substitutes. Substitutions for Blackpool included Jordan Thorniley, Theodor Corbeanu and CJ Hamilton for Rhys Williams, Gary Madine and Shayne Lavery, repectively, Bristol brought on Matty James, Antoine Semenyo and Andy King, to replace Han-Noah Massengo, Alex Scott and Tommy Conway.

There were bookings for Jordan Gabriel from Blackpool. For Bristol, Alex Scott, Antoine Semenyo, Robert Atkinson, Joe Williams and Andy King saw yellow.

Bristol and Blackpool will next play at home to Huddersfield Town and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
