Birmingham 0-1 Wigan Athletic: Broadhead goal gives Latics late win at St Andrew’s

Wigan Athletic snatched all three points from Birmingham City in a 1-0 victory on Saturday, at St Andrew’s Stadium. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Birmingham were looking for a victory after a 1-1 draw against Watford. Wigan Athletic secured a point against Bristol City in their previous match. As the table looks today, Birmingham are in 15th place in the table and have 5 points while Wigan Athletic sit in 21st with 3 points after 5 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Wigan Athletic continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Nathan Broadhead found the net at the 82 minute mark, sealing a 1-0 victory for the home side.

Substitutions for Birmingham included Jonathan Leko, Troy Deeney, Sam Cosgrove and Jobe Bellingham for Josh Williams, Lukas Jutkiewicz, George Hall and Maxime Colin, repectively. Wigan Athletic brought on Ryan Nyambe, Nathan Broadhead, Graeme Shinnie and Charlie Wyke, to replace Josh Magennis, Callum Lang, James McClean and Will Keane.

Birmingham will next travel to Rotherham United, while Wigan Athletic will face Burnley at home.
