Birmingham 2-0 QPR: The R’s fail to match the Blues at St Andrew’s Stadium

Birmingham City beat Queens Park Rangers with a 2-0 victory on Friday at St Andrew’s Stadium. Birmingham were looking forward to playing again after losing their last match 2-1 to Blackburn Rovers while QPR were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Wigan Athletic and Cardiff City. Birmingham are now in 11th place on the table and have 23 points while QPR sit in 2nd with 30 points after 18 matches.

Blues started the match strongly, with an early goal from Auston Trusty in the 4th minute. Birmingham then scored again and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Emmanuel Longelo, 29 minutes in. The score at half time remained 2-0. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 2-0 at full time.

Substitutions for Birmingham included Juninho Bacuna, Lukas Jutkiewicz, George Hall and Jordan James for Hannibal Mejbri, Troy Deeney, Tahith Chong and Scott Hogan, respectively. QPR brought on Rob Dickie, Sinclair Armstrong, Luke Amos and Taylor Richards for Jake Clarke-Salter, Tyler Roberts, Stefan Johansen and Sam Field.

There were bookings for Hannibal Mejbri, Auston Trusty, Krystian Bielik and Emmanuel Longelo from Birmingham. For QPR, Rob Dickie, Leon Balogun and Tim Iroegbunam saw yellow.

Birmingham will next play Millwall at home, with QPR facing Norwich City away.
