SPAL 0-2 Genoa: The Griffin net 2 without reply at Stadio Paolo Mazza

Genoa enjoyed an away victory against SPAL at Stadio Paolo Mazza on Saturday. SPAL were aiming to improve their league standing following a disappointing 3-3 draw with Como in their previous game. Genoa were coming off the back of a 1-0 win against Modena. SPAL are now in 11th place, with 9 points from 7 matches, while Genoa sit in 4th, with 14 points from 7.

Genoa started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Coda gave them the lead in the 19th minute, ending the first half 1-0.

The Griffin continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Gudmundsson found the net just before the full time, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for SPAL included Rabbi, Tunjov, Matteo Arena, Peda and Finotto for Luca Valzania, Proia, Dalle Mura, Dickmann and Moncini, respectively. Genoa replaced Dragusin, Bani, Jagiello, Hefti and Puşcaş with Vogliacco, Ilsanker, Yalcin, Sabelli and Jagiello.

The referee booked La Mantia, Luca Valzania and Moncini from SPAL and Meccariello went off with a red card, while Genoa’s Vogliacco, Ilsanker and Josep Martínez also received a yellow.

SPAL will next play Frosinone away, with Genoa facing Cagliari at home.
