POR 1 – Benevento 4: Home side left shocked by plundering visitors

Benevento delivered a resounding 4-1 victory against POR on Monday. POR arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to US Alessandria. Benevento were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Vicenza and Reggina. As it stands, POR are in 20th place, with 17 points from 35 matches, while Benevento sit in 3rd, with 63 points from 35.

Benevento started strongly in the first half, with an early goal from Moncini in the 2nd minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a 2nd effort from Moncini, 18 minutes in, finishing the first half 0-2.

Benevento continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Diego Farias at the 67 minute mark. Benevento looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a second effort from Diego Farias, 72 minutes in to establish a 4-0. In the end though, POR secured the points emphatically, with a goal from Gavazzi just before the final whistle, leaving a rampant Benevento with a resounding 4-1.

For POR, Deli, Alvin Obinna Okoro, Gavazzi and Bassoli, came on for El Kaouakibi, Candellone, Pasa and Barison. Benevento replaced Petriccione, Mattia Viviani, Moncini, Diego Farias and Acampora for Elia, Caló, Forte, Brignola and Angelo Talia.

There were bookings for Pasa, Candellone and Alvin Obinna Okoro from POR. For Benevento, Elia saw yellow.

POR will play their next fixture away against Nuova Cosenza, while Benevento will face Ternana Calcio at home.
