Lecce 3 – ASC 1: Giallorossi deliver decisive win at Stadio Via del Mar

Lecce strolled past Ascoli with a 3-1 win on Wednesday at Stadio Via del Mar. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Lecce were looking to pick up points, following a 1-0 victory against AC Monza. ASC had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-1 victory against Crotone. After today’s result, Lecce are in 1st place, with 52 points from 27 matches, while ASC sit in 8th, with 42 points from 27.
Giallorossi started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with a goal from Pablo Rodríguez at the 24 minute mark. They then managed to see out the first half 1-0.
Lecce continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Coda at the 56 minute mark. However, ASC weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Ricci at the 71 minute mark. In the end though, Lecce just before the final whistle increased their advantage via another Coda goal. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 3-1 to Lecce.
For Lecce, Gabriel Espeto, Listkowski, Bjorkengren, Simic and Blin, came on for Pablo Rodríguez, Ragusa, Helgason, Tuia and Listkowski. ASC brought on Ricci, Baschirotto, Dionisi, Iliev and Caligara, to replace Bidaoui, Salvi, Paganini, Tsadjout and Maistro.
There were bookings for Helgason and Tuia from Lecce, and Bellusci and Salvi, for ASC.
Lecce will next travel to Perugia, while ASC will face Frosinone at home.
