USC 1 – REG 1: Plenty of goals but no win at Stadio Giovanni Zini

USC were held to 1-1 draw by REG down on Saturday at Stadio Giovanni Zini. Both USC and REG arrived at the match after previous wins. USC were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the SPAL away (2-0), the other to Pordenone at home (2-1). REG were coming from a 1-0 win against Nuova Cosenza. As the table looks today, USC are in 1st place, with 60 points from 32 matches, while REG sit in 11th, with 44 points from 32.

After an un-eventful first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on USC who started the second half well, with Ciofani finding the net at the 51 minute mark. In the end though, their lead was short lived, as Galabinov equalised for REG in the 81st minute. The final result, USC 1, REG 1.

For USC, Baez and Gondo, came on for Zanimacchia and Ciofani. REG brought on Ménez, Adjapong, Kupisz, Galabinov and Montalto, to replace Rivas, Giraudo, Lombardi, Bianchi and Hetemaj.

The referee booked seven players. Bianchetti, Fagioli and Rafia from USC, who saw yellow cards and Crescenzi, sent off with a red, as well as for REG Di Chiara, Crisetig and Amione also seeing yellows.

REG and USC will next play at home to Benevento and US Alessandria respectively.
