Cagliari 1-4 Venezia: Home side left shocked by plundering visitors

Cagliari on Saturday lost to Venezia on a home defeat at the Sardegna Arena. Cagliari were hoping to get something from this game after losing 1-0 to SSC Bari in their previous fixture. Venezia, meanwhile, had secured a point against Pisa in their previous match. Cagliari are now in 9th place, with 10 points from 7 matches, while Venezia sit in 12th, with 8 points from 7.

Cagliari started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Mancosu gave them the lead in the 38th minute, and they saw out the first half 1-0.

Venezia started the second half with renewed vigour, with an early goal from Pohjanpalo in the 50th minute. The momentum was again with Venezia, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Cheryshev on the 64 minute mark to establish a 2-1 result. The momentum was again with Arancioneroverdi, who then scored again courtesy of a 2nd effort from Cheryshev in the 66th minute to establish a 3-1 result. However they weren’t finished yet and Haps made it 4-1, 83 minutes in to give a final score of 4-1.

Substitutions for Cagliari included Makoumbou, Obert, Falco, Lapadula and Zito Luvumbo for Rog, Barreca, Pereiro, Pavoletti and Zappa, respectively. Venezia replaced Cuisance, Kofod Andersen, Pohjanpalo and Gianluca Busio for Cheryshev, Tessmann, Fiordilino and Candela.

There were bookings for Rog, Goldaniga and Deiola from Cagliari. For Venezia, Zampano and Haps saw yellow.

Cagliari will next travel to Genoa, while Venezia will face SSC Bari at home.
