Benevento 2 – Ternana 3: Visitors secure points with win at Stadio Ciro Vigorito

Ternana Calcio eased past Benevento in a 3-2 victory on Saturday at Stadio Ciro Vigorito. Benevento were aiming to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with FC Südtirol in their previous game while Ternana were coming from consecutive wins against Palermo FC and Cittadella. Benevento and Ternana sit 15th, (9 points) and 1st, (19 points), spots respectively, after 9 matches.

Benevento started the match strongly, with a goal from Iannarilli in the 19th minute. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from La Gumina, at 38 minutes. The first half ended 2-0.

Ternana continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Sørensen, 58 minutes in. The momentum was again with Ternana, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Pettinari in the 74th minute to establish a 2-2 result. However they weren’t finished yet and Di Tacchio made it 3-2, 81 minutes in to give a final score of 3-2.

Substitutions for Benevento included Vokic, Masciangelo, Ilias Koutsoupias, Diego Farias and Forte for Ciano, Letizia, Schiattarella, Tello and La Gumina, respectively. Ternana replaced Salim Diakite, Moro, Pettinari, Ghiringhelli and Proietti with Bogdan, Paghera, Cassata, Donnarumma and Partipilo.

There were bookings for Karic, Paleari and Pastina from Benevento, and Iannarilli and Ghiringhelli, for Ternana.

Benevento will next play Como away, with Ternana facing Genoa at home.
