Benevento 5 – PIS 1: Bad day for visitors at Stadio Ciro Vigorito

Pisa fell to an away defeat at the hands of Benevento at Stadio Ciro Vigorito on Saturday. Benevento were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 2-0 to Frosinone while PIS were coming off the back of a 1-0 win against Cittadella. Following today’s result, Benevento are in 6th place on the table and has 54 points while PIS sit in 3rd with 58 points after 32 matches.

Benevento started strongly in the first half, with an early goal from Ioniţă in the 3rd minute. Benevento then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Caracciolo, 32 minutes in, to take a 2-0 lead into half time.

Benevento started the second half with renewed vigour, with an early goal from Improta in the 49th minute. The momentum was now with Benevento, who then scored again through a goal from Forte, at 69 minutes to establish a 4-0. However, PIS weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Puşcaş at the 85 minute mark. In the end though, Benevento secured the points emphatically, with a goal from Tello just before the final whistle. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 5-1 to Benevento.

For Benevento, Tello, Moncini, Gyamfi, Petriccione and Diego Farias, came on for Insigne, Ioniţă, Acampora, Forte and Improta. PIS replaced Benali, Mastinu, Torregrossa, Sibilli and Siega for Giulio Falsettini, Touré, Marsura, Masucci and Di Quinzio.

The referee booked three players from PIS, Mastinu, Nagy and Siega.

Benevento will next play Reggina away, with PIS facing Brecia Calcio at home.
