Benevento 3 – Crotone 1: Visitors leave Stadio Ciro Vigorito with nothing

Crotone on away loss to Benevento at Stadio Ciro Vigorito on Saturday. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Benevento wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Cremonese in their previous game. Crotone, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with US Alessandria. As it stands, Benevento and Crotone currently occupy 6th and 19th spots in the table, with 50 points and 16 points respectively after 29 matches.

Benevento started strongly in the first half, thanks to Moncini finding the net at the 25 minute mark. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Vogliacco, 27 minutes in brought Crotone level. Benevento in turn, then responded just before half-time increasing their lead with a 2nd effort from Moncini, finishing the first half 2-1.

Benevento continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Forte finding the net just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 3-1.

For Benevento, Tello, Forte, Elia and Petriccione, came on for Gyamfi, Diego Farias, Moncini and Lapadula. Crotone brought on Kargbo, Kone, Bobby Adekanye and Sala, to replace Canestrelli, Estevez, Marras and Schnegg.

There were bookings for Gyamfi, Tello and Improta from Benevento, and Schnegg, Marras, Canestrelli and Bobby Adekanye, for Crotone.

Benevento will next play Brecia Calcio away, with Crotone facing Frosinone at home.
