ASC 2-1 Cagliari: The Islanders unable to avoid defeat at Stadio Cino e Lillo Del Duca
Ascoli beat Cagliari with a 2-1 victory on Monday at Stadio Cino e Lillo Del Duca. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. ASC were looking to continue their good run, following a 2-0 victory against SSC Bari. Cagliari were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Brecia Calcio. ASC are now in 9th place on the table and have 15 points while Cagliari sit in 10th with 14 points after 10 matches.
The first half of the match started well for ASC, when Dionisi gave them the lead on the 33 minute mark, and they saw out the first half 1-0.
ASC continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, with a goal from Mendes on the 81 minute mark. The Islanders in turn, then responded just before the full time, grabbing the lead with an effort from Pavoletti so at full time it was 2-1 to ASC.
Substitutions for ASC included Falzerano, Mendes, Bellusci, Bidaoui and Samuel Giovane for Adjapong, Dionisi, Simic, Lungoyi and Eramo, respectively. Cagliari brought on Lapadula, Millico, Rog and Barreca, to replace Di Pardo, Falco, Deiola and Carboni.
The referee booked Adjapong, Eramo, Simic and Falasco and Falasco (2 yellow cards) saw the red card, for ASC.
