On Saturday, Xolos and Puebla were held to a 3-3 draw at Estadio Caliente. Xolos were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Deportivo Toluca. Puebla had managed to pick up a single point in their matchup with Deportivo Toluca. As things stand, Xolos and Puebla currently occupy 6th and 7th spots in the table, with 11 points and 10 points respectively after 8 matches.

Los Xolos started strongly in the first half, when Edgar Lopez gave Xolos the lead at the 36 minute mark. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Gustavo Ferrareis equalised for Los Camoteros at the 38 minute mark, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

Los Xolos took the initiative in the second half, when Lucas Rodriguez found the net, at 63 minutes. The momentum was now with Xolos, who then scored again through a goal from Lisandro Lopez, at 72 minutes to establish a 3-1. However, Puebla weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Jozy Altidore, 85 minutes in. Puebla then netted again and found an equaliser thanks to a goal from Israel Reyes just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-3.

Substitutions for Xolos included Christian Rivera, Misael Doíinguez and Francisco Contreras for Joaquin Montecinos, Lucas Rodriguez and Edgar Lopez, repectively. Puebla brought on Lucas Maia, Luis Arcadio Garcia, Jozy Altidore, Amaury Escoto and Ivo Vazquez, to replace Gaston Silva, Gustavo Ferrareis, Martin Barragan, Ivan Moreno and Maximiliano Araujo.

The referee booked Federico Lertora for Xolos.

Xolos will next play Cruz Azul away, with Puebla facing América at home.
