León 3 – AME 2: Home win for Los Panzas Verdes at Estadio Leon

León eased past América in a 3-2 victory on Monday at Estadio Leon. Both sides came from defeats in their previous league games. León arrived at the match looking pick up points after losing their last match 1-0 to Deportivo Toluca while AME lost 2-0 in the last match they played against Tijuana. As things stand, León are in 6th place in the table and have 9 points while AME sit in 15th with 4 points after 6 matches.

Los Panzas Verdes started strongly in the first half, when Victor Davila gave León the lead at the 32 minute mark. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Henry Martin equalised for The Eagles just before halftime. The first half ended 1-1.

León rallied after this and were rewarded, when Osvaldo Rodriguez gave León the lead, 66 minutes in. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Henry Martin producing an equaliser in the 80th minute, bringing AME level. In the end though, León just before the final whistle took the victory following a Angel Mena goal. The final result, León 3, AME 2.

Both managers used all available substitutions. Substitutions for León included Angel Mena, Federico Martinez and David Ramirez for Yairo Moreno, Luis Montes and Byron Castillo, repectively, AME brought on Sebastian Caceres, Richard Sanchez and Federico Vinas to replace Emilio Lara, Pedro Aquino and Diego Valdes.

The referee booked Byron Castillo and Angel Mena from León and Jose Rodriguez went off with a red card, while AME’s Emilio Lara, Pedro Aquino and Diego Valdes also received a yellow.

León will next travel to Monterrey, while AME will face Juárez at home.
