Chivas 1 – Monterrey 0: Visitors leave Estadio Akron with nothing
Guadalajara snatched all three points from Monterrey in a 1-0 victory on Wednesday, at Estadio Akron. Chivas were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run, following a 4-0 victory against Necaxa. Monterrey, on the other hand, secured a point against Tigres UANL in their previous match. As the table looks today, Chivas and Monterrey are 11th, (12 points) and 1st, (21 points), spots respectively, after 16 matches.
Following a goalless first half, Las Chivas piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Santiago Ormeno gave Chivas the lead, 80 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-0.
Substitutions for Chivas included Pavel Perez, Carlos Cisneros, Cristian Calderon, Santiago Ormeno and Ruben Gonzalez for Isaac Brizuela, Jesus Sanchez, Roberto Alvarado, Angel Zaldívar and Fernando Beltran, repectively. Monterrey brought on Rodrigo Aguirre, Arturo Gonzalez and Jacobo Reyes, to replace Hector Moreno, Jesus Gallardo and Sebastian Vegas.
The referee booked Jesus Gallardo and Sebastian Vegas for Monterrey.
