Toluca 1 – Pachuca 4: Los Diablos Rojos left reeling as Los Tuzos take points

Pachuca see Deportivo Toluca off 4-1 on Sunday at Estadio Nemesio Diez. Toluca arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 1-1 draw against Puebla while Pachuca were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Atlas and León. After today’s result, both teams are on 21 points and sit in 5th and 3rd places respectively after 11 matches.

Pachuca dominated the first half, when Illian Hernandez opened the rout at the 15 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a 2nd effort from Illian Hernandez in the 24th minute. The score at half time was 2-0.

Toluca took the initiative in the second half, when Jean Meneses found the net, at 63 minutes. However, Los Tuzos increased their lead following a Paulino De la Fuente Gomez goal at the 73 minute mark to make it 3-1. Pachuca then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Nicolas Ibanez just before the final whistle to make it 4-1.

Substitutions for Toluca included Sebastian Saucedo, Daniel Alvarez, Isaias Violante, Raul Lopez and Camilo Da Silva for Leonardo Fernandez, Marcel Ruiz, Fernando Navarro, Brayan Angulo and Haret Ortega, repectively. Pachuca brought on Paulino De la Fuente Gomez, Israel Luna, Nicolas Ibanez and Eduardo Lopez for Marino Hinestroza, Jesus Daniel Hernandez Casiano, Illian Hernandez and Victor Guzman.

The referee booked Brayan Angulo, Haret Ortega, Jean Meneses, Sebastian Saucedo and Camilo Da Silva from Toluca and Sebastian Saucedo (2 yellow cards) went off with a red card, while Pachuca’s Illian Hernandez, Oscar Murillo, Paulino De la Fuente Gomez and Luis Chavez also received a yellow.

Toluca will play their next fixture at home against Querétaro, while Pachuca will face Monterrey away.
