San Luis 3 – UNAM 2: Welcome victory against Los Pumas for “Los Atléticos”

Pumas fell to an away defeat at the hands of Atl. San Luis at Alfonso Lastras Ramirez on Friday. San Luis wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Juárez in their previous game while UNAM lost 3-0 in the last match they played against América. At the moment, San Luis are in 10th place in the table and have 11 points while UNAM sit in 14th with 8 points after 9 matches.

Los Pumas started strongly in the first half, when Eduardo Salvio found the net after only 6 minutes. UNAM looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a second effort from Eduardo Salvio, 23 minutes in to establish a 2-0. San Luis in turn, then responded in the 31st minute increasing their lead with an effort from Abel Hernandez. The score at half time was 2-1.

“Los Atléticos” started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when Abel Hernandez found the net again at the 55 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a hat trick effort from Abel Hernandez, at 59 minutes to make it 3-2.

Substitutions for San Luis included Juan Sanabria, Ramon Juarez, Juan Castro and Sabin Merino for Vitinho, Luis Leon, Jhon Murillo and Abel Hernandez, repectively. UNAM replaced Eduardo Salvio, Gustavo Del Prete, Marco Garcia and Pablo Bennevendo for Cesar Huerta, Juan Dinenno, Jorge Antonio Ruvalcaba Castro and Carlos Gutierrez.

There were bookings for Rodrigo Dourado, Ricardo Chavez and Abel Hernandez from San Luis, and Dani Alves, Diogo de Oliveira and Jorge Antonio Ruvalcaba Castro, for UNAM.

San Luis next face Tigres UANL and UNAM are at home to Santos Laguna.
