Saturday LaLiga action from the Mestalla, as Valencia take on Mallorca.

Mallorca to face eighth Valencia on Saturday at the Mestalla, with Javier Aguirre’s team currently occupying fifteenth place in the League.

With the LaLiga season well into its stride, Valencia have managed to gain 15 points

Valencia have 90 minutes to break their recent habit of poor, or disappointing results, following a dissapointing away draw to Seville and Elche.

Also, with two draws in two meetings, Manager Gennaro Gattuso has plenty to ponder, going into the next fixture, not least of which is how to get the wins he needs. They currently stand eighth in the League, with 15 points for a total of 4 wins, 3 losses and 3 draws having won four matches, drawn three games, and lost three fixtures.

When Valencia host Mallorca, they will do so on the back of three wins, one dart, and one losse on their own ground.

Valencia will have 18 points if they manage to secure a victory.

Good Attacking Performance

Valencia have a good scoring record this season, with 17 netted so far (16 from open play and one penalty). This is largely down to the efforts of their stand-out attackers – Edinson Cavani (3), Samu Castillejo (2), and Mouctar Diakhaby (2). Valencia have conceded 11 goals.

Valencia are missing two players through injury or illness. This will affect Gennaro Gattuso’s selection choices significantly.

Mallorca have so far accrued nine points in this season of the LaLiga

Mallorca will hope to increase their wins in a row, having secured a 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad in their last match.

Also, Mallorca need to find a way to generate wins on a consistent basis, as they’ve recorded four losses in their last six fixtures. Their position is fifteenth in the League and they have nine points, that is, 2W, 5L and 3D having won two fixtures, drawn three games, and lost five meetings.

Playing away from home, Mallorca have won one game, drawn two fixtures, and lost two games.

A victory for Mallorca would put them on 12 points.

It is likely that three key players will miss Saturday’s fixture, which is something of a concern for Javier Aguirre and his Mallorca team.
