Valencia 0-1 Barcelona: Lewandowski the late hero for Los Blaugranas

Barcelona enjoyed an away victory against Valencia at the Mestalla on Saturday. Valencia were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 2-1 to Mallorca in their last match. Barca were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal. Valencia are currently 10th with 15 points from 12 matches, while Barca sit in 1st, with 31 points from 12.

After an uneventful first half, Barca continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Robert Lewandowski found the net just before the full time, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Valencia included Marcos De Sousa, Samu Castillejo, Lato Toni and Jesus Vazquez for Edinson Cavani, Justin Kluivert, Andre Almeida and Thierry Correia, respectively. Barca replaced Marcos Alonso, Ferran Torres, Gavi, Raphinha and Gerard Pique with Eric Garcia, Ousmane Dembele, Sergio Busquets, Ansu Fati and Jules Kounde.

There were bookings for Lino, Hugo Guillamon, Dimitri Foulquier and Samu Castillejo from Valencia. For Barca, Eric Garcia, Marcos Alonso, Gavi, Gerard Pique and Ferran Torres saw yellow.

Valencia will next travel to Real Sociedad, while Barca will face Almería at home.
