Valladolid 2-1 Elche: Narrow victory for Pucelle as they hold off Elche

On Saturday, Elche suffered an away defeat to Real Valladolid at José Zorrilla. Both Valladolid and Elche arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Valladolid arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing their last match 2-0 to Osasuna. Elche were beaten 1-0 in their previous match against Getafe. Valladolid are now in 10th place, with 17 points from 13 matches, while Elche sit in 20th, with 4 points from 13.

Pucelle started the match strongly, when Javi Sanchez gave them the lead on the 40 minute mark. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Roque Mesa just before half-time, ending the first half 2-0.

ilicitano took the initiative in the second half, when Josan found the net on the 63 minute mark, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Valladolid included Lucas Olaza, Jawad El Yamiq, Kike Perez, Shon Weissman and Monchu for Sergio Escudero, Javi Sanchez, Ivan Sanchez, Sergio Leon and Gonzalo Plata, respectively. Elche brought on Diego Gonzalez, Josan, Ezequiel Ponce, Raúl Guti and Nicolas Ezequiel Fernandez Mercau, to replace Pedro Bigas, Alex Collado, Lucas Boye, Gerard Gumbau and Pol Lirola.

The referee booked Javi Sanchez and Joaquin Fernandez for Valladolid.

Valladolid will next play Athletic Bilbao away, with Elche facing Girona at home.
