Betis 1-0 Villarreal: The Green-and-Whites back in winning form

Villarreal fell to an away defeat at the hands of Real Betis at the Estadio Benito Villamarin on Sunday. Betis were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 2-1 to R Madrid in their previous fixture. Villarreal were able to continue their winning streak after a 4-0 win against Elche in their last match. Betis are now in 3rd place, with 12 points from 5 matches, while Villarreal sit in 4th, with 10 points from 5.

Following a goalless first half, Betis applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Rodri, 61 minutes in. The match ended with a 1-0 victory for Betis.

Substitutions for Betis included Aitor Ruibal, Andres Guardado and Willian Jose for Rodri, Luiz Henrique and Borja Iglesias, respectively. Villarreal replaced Alex Baena, Samuel Chukwueze, Francis Coquelin, Johan Mojica and Jose Luis Morales with Gerard Moreno, Yeremi Pino, Etienne Capoue, Alfonso Pedraza and Nicolas Jackson.

There were bookings for Andres Guardado from Betis. For Villarreal, Yeremi Pino saw yellow.

Villarreal and Betis will next play at home to Seville and Girona respectively.
