Atletico Madrid strolled past Real Betis with a 3-1 win on Sunday at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. Betis were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 2-1 to Seville. Atleti were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Celta Vigo and Osasuna. As things stand, Betis and Atleti currently occupy 5th and 4th spots in the table, with 46 points and 48 points respectively after 27 matches.

Los Colchoneros started strongly in the first half, with an early goal from Joao Felix in the 2nd minute. However, their lead was short lived, as Cristian Tello equalised for Betis just before half-time, which saw the first half end 1-1.

Atleti continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Joao Felix finding the net again at the 61 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Thomas Lemar in the 80th minute to make it 3-1.

For Betis, Cristian Tello, Guido Rodriguez, Juanmi and Willian Jose, came on for Andres Guardado, Paul Akouokou, Joaquin and Borja Iglesias. Atleti replaced Yannick Carrasco, Antoine Griezmann, Thomas Lemar, Javier Serrano Martinez and Luis Suarez with Sime Vrsaljko, Angel Correa, Renan Lodi, Rodrigo De Paul and Joao Felix.

There were bookings for Borja Iglesias, Paul Akouokou, Marc Bartra, Cristian Tello and Aitor Ruibal from Betis. For Atleti, Hector Herrera, Yannick Carrasco and Marcos Llorente saw yellow.

Atleti and Betis will next play at home to Cádiz and Athletic Bilbao respectively.
