Rayo 0 – RMA 1: Los Blancos leave Estadio de Vallecas with 3 points
Rayo Vallecano fell to a home defeat at the hands of R Madrid at Estadio de Vallecas on Saturday. Rayo were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last game 2-1 to Elche. RMA were coming off the back of a 3-0 win against Alaves. After today’s result, Rayo are in 12th place, with 31 points from 26 matches, while RMA sit in 1st, with 60 points from 26.
After a goalless first half, RMA continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Karim Benzema giving Los Blancos the lead, 83 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-0.
For Rayo, Pathe Ciss, Falcao, Isi Palazon, Randy Nteka and Mamadou Sylla, came on for Óscar Valentín, Sergi Guardiola, Bebe, Oscar Trejo and Alvaro Garcia. RMA replaced Casemiro, Marco Asensio, Luka Modric and Vinicius Junior for Federico Valverde, Rodrygo, Dani Ceballos and Eduardo Camavinga.
There were bookings for Óscar Valentín, Oscar Trejo, Ivan Balliu, Bebe, Alejandro Catena and Mamadou Sylla from Rayo. For RMA, Casemiro and Ferland Mendy saw yellow.
Rayo will play away against Cádiz, while RMA will face Real Sociedad at home.
