Real (sixth), travel to Ciutat de Valencia with high expectations, as they take on twentieth placed Levante.

Levante to host Real Sociedad Amid Relegation Battle

Levante’s next opponents will smell blood if they begin the next match with all guns blazing. Whilst it’s understandable that they may want to do this, after their recent 1-1 draw at Valencia and previous loss to Seville, The Frogs must get a positive result and keep defensively solid.

Also, Levante may not want to consider the prospect of relegation this season, but they are going to have to change their ways if they are to avoid it. Alessio Lisci’s squad have lost 11 of 20 meetings. Their position is twentieth in the League and they have 26 points, that is, 5W, 18L and 11D having won five fixtures, drawn 11 matches, and lost 18 games.

Levante have won three games, drawn seven matches, and lost seven games of their 17 League matches at home this season.

Levante will have 29 points so far this season, should they secure a win.

Levante’s squad will likely be depleted of four of their key players when they start on Friday, due to injury or illness.

This season’s LaLiga campaign, has so far seen Real Sociedad achieve 56 points

Only a positive result will be acceptable for Imanol Alguacil’s Real, having drawn away to Rayo Vallecano, which itself followed a loss to Barcelona. A win would go some way to restoring the team’s confidence.

Also, Real keep finding ways to win, having secured six victories in their last 12 fixtures is astonishing this season. Now they have 15 matches won, 8 games lost and 11 duels drawn; that’s why they currently sit in sixth place, with a total of 56 points having won 15 meetings, drawn 11 games, and lost eight meetings.

Real’s away record is remarkable and poses a significant threat to Levante. In the 17 games they’ve played on the road this season, they have so far won six matches, drawn six fixtures, and lost five fixtures.

Winning this fixture will see Real Sociedad on 59 points.

A solid defensive team

So far, Real’s defence has been outstanding, as they have conceded 32 goals. Real will be concerned at having only scored 33 goals so far this season (30 from open play and three penalties). This has been largely down to the key attacking players: Mikel Oyarzabal (2), Alexander Sorloth (2), and Martin Zubimendi (1).

Imanol Alguacil could be missing up to four of their players through injury or illness for the game on Friday.

Additionally, Levante have won all seven of the past 13 meetings with Real.
