Levante 1 – Espanyol 1: Victory beyond reach for The Frogs at the Ciutat de Valencia

On Saturday, Levante and Espanyol were held to a 1-1 draw at the Ciutat de Valencia. Levante were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Athletic Bilbao. Espanyol were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-0 victory against Getafe. As it stands, Levante and Espanyol are 20th, (19 points) and 12th, (33 points), in the table respectively, after 28 matches.

After a goalless first half, Espanyol certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with an early goal from Javi Puado in the 50th minute. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Dani Gomez equalised for Levante in the 80th minute. The final result, Levante 1, Espanyol 1.

For Levante, Ruben Vezo, Jose Campana, Enric Franquesa, Dani Gomez and Alejandro Cantero, came on for Oscar Duarte, Gonzalo Melero, Son, Marc Pubill Pages and Jorge De Frutos Sebastian. Espanyol brought on Aleix Vidal, Adri Embarba, Joan Garcia Pons, Wu Lei and Nicolas Melamed Ribaudo for Tonny Vilhena, Javi Puado, Diego Lopez, Oscar Regano and Sergi Darder.

There were bookings for Oscar Duarte, Gonzalo Melero, Rober Pier and Jose Campana from Levante, and Adria Pedrosa, Javi Puado, Fernando Calero and Adri Embarba, for Espanyol.

Levante will next travel to Osasuna, while Espanyol will face Mallorca at home.
