Granada 1 – Villarreal 4: The Yellow Submarine, merciless at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes

Granada on Saturday lost to Villarreal on a home defeat at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes. Granada were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Real Sociedad. Villarreal had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with R Madrid. As things stand, Granada are in 17th place, with 24 points from 25 matches, while Villarreal sit in 4th, with 39 points from 25.

The Yellow Submarine started the first half well, with Arnaut Danjuma opening the rout in the 35th minute. Villarreal then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a effort from Arnaut Danjuma, 39 minutes in. The score at half time was 0-2.

Granada took the initiative in the second half, with Luis Milla finding the net at the 61 minute mark. However, Villarreal increased their lead following another Arnaut Danjuma goal, at 81 minutes to make it 3-1. The Yellow Submarine then scored again and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Moi Gomez just before the final whistle to make it 4-1.

For Granada, Myrto Uzuni, Raul Torrente, Njegos Petrovic, Alex Collado and Alberto Soro, came on for Maxime Gonalons, Quini, Angel Montoro, Jorge Molina and Carlos Neva. Villarreal brought on Juan Foyth, Samuel Chukwueze, Alfonso Pedraza, Alberto Moreno and Moi Gomez for Pervis Estupinan, Serge Aurier, Yeremi Pino, Giovani Lo Celso and Manu Trigueros.

There were bookings for Myrto Uzuni, German Sanchez and Raul Torrente from Granada. For Villarreal, Arnaut Danjuma, Pervis Estupinan, Serge Aurier, Samuel Chukwueze, Sergio Asenjo and Vicente Iborra saw yellow.

Villarreal and Granada will next play at home to Espanyol and Cádiz respectively.
