Girona 3-1 Getafe: Duarte own-goal helps Girona to three points

Getafe fell to an away defeat at the hands of Girona at Estadi Montilivi on Monday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Girona arrived at the match looking pick up points after losing their last match 1-0 to Valencia. Getafe were beaten 3-0 in the previous match against Atletico Madrid. As the table looks today, Girona are in 9th place in the table and have 3 points while Getafe sit in 20th with 0 points after 2 matches.
Girona started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to a goal from Cristhian Stuani, 42 minutes in. Girona then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a calamitous own goal from Domingos Duarte just before halftime and saw the first half out 2-0.
Girona continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Valentin Castellanos in the 64th minute. Deep Blues in turn, then responded, at 73 minutes increasing their lead with an effort from Enes Unal, leaving the final score at 3-1.
Both teams used all available substitutes. Substitutions for Girona included Samuel Saiz, Reinier, Javier Hernandez and Ramon Terrats for Rodrigo Riquelme, Cristhian Stuani, Miguel Gutierrez and Valentin Castellanos, repectively, Getafe brought on Jaime Seoane and Portu to replace Nemanja Maksimovic and Stefan Mitrovic.
The referee booked Valentin Castellanos and Juanpe from Girona. Getafe had the worst of it though, with Stefan Mitrovic, Borja Mayoral, Fabrizio Angileri, Carles Alena, Djene and Enes Unal seeing yellow, and Fabrizio Angileri then sent off with a red.
Girona next face Celta Vigo and Getafe are at home to Villarreal.
