Espanyol were held to 1-1 draw by Valencia down on Saturday at Rcde Stadium. Both Espanyol and Valencia arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. Espanyol arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Alaves. Valencia had lost their previous match against Real Betis. As it stands, Espanyol and Valencia currently occupy 13th and 10th spots in the league, with 41 points and 45 points respectively after 37 matches.

The first half of the game started well for Valencia, with Maxi Gomez finding the net in the 37th minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Raul De Tomas equalised for Espanyol just before half-time to see out the first half 1-1. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

For Espanyol, Nicolas Melamed Ribaudo, Adri Embarba, Daniel Villahermosa, Jofre Carreras and Didac Vila, came on for Oscar Melendo, Javi Puado, Fran Merida, David Lopez and Tonny Vilhena. Valencia replaced Eray Comert, Carlos Soler, Marcos De Sousa, Uros Racic and Maxi Gomez for Yunus Musah, Bryan Salvatierra, Denis Cheryshev, Goncalo Guedes and Mario Dominguez Franco.

There were bookings for Fran Merida, Raul De Tomas, Sergi Darder and Didac Vila from Espanyol, and Omar Alderete, for Valencia.

Espanyol will next travel to Granada, while Valencia will face Celta Vigo at home.
