Elche 1 – Real 2: The White and Blues, ecstatic seal precious away win

Real Sociedad enjoyed a mesmerising away victory against Elche at Estadio Martínez Valero on Sunday. Elche were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Athletic Bilbao. Real were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against Espanyol in their last match. After today’s result, Elche and Real are 15th, (32 points) and 6th, (54 points), spots respectively, after 31 matches.
Elche started the first half well, thanks to an early goal from Guido Carrillo in the 3rd minute. The White and Blues then went on to level the score at 1-1 in the 31st minute, thanks to a goal from Alexander Sorloth. Real then netted once more and turned the match thanks to a goal from Robin Le Normand in the 39th minute. The first half ended 1-2. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 2-1.
For Elche, Ezequiel Ponce, Gonzalo Verdu, Raúl Guti, Josan and Kike Perez, came on for Guido Carrillo, Diego Gonzalez, Gerard Gumbau, Helibelton Palacios and Omar Mascarell. Real replaced Rafinha, Alexander Sorloth, David Silva, Diego Rico Salguero and Joseba Zaldua for Portu, Adnan Januzaj, Aihen Munoz, Aritz Elustondo and Andoni Gorosabel.
There were bookings for Helibelton Palacios, Gerard Gumbau and Guido Carrillo from Elche. For Real, Alexander Isak, Martin Zubimendi and Joseba Zaldua saw yellow.
