Elche 1 – Osasuna 1: Victory elusive at Estadio Martínez Valero for both sides

On Sunday, Elche and Osasuna were held to a 1-1 draw at Estadio Martínez Valero. Elche were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the Real Betis away (1-0), the other to Mallorca at home (3-0) whilst Osasuna were beaten 3-1 in the previous match against R Madrid. After today’s result, Elche are in 14th place, with 38 points from 34 matches, while Osasuna sit in 9th, with 44 points from 34.

After a goalless first half, Osasuna took the initiative in the second half, with Ante Budimir giving Los Rojillos the lead at the 68 minute mark. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Pere Milla equalised for Elche at the 84 minute mark. The game ended wih a 1-1 draw.

For Elche, Diego Gonzalez, Gerard Gumbau, Tete Morente, Pere Milla and Guido Carrillo, came on for Pedro Bigas, Raúl Guti, Fidel, Enzo Roco and Kike Perez. Osasuna brought on Javi Martinez, Kike Garcia, Ruben Garcia, Kike Barja and Roberto Torres, to replace Jon Moncayola, Ezequiel Avila, Ante Budimir, Juan Cruz and Darko Brasanac.

There were bookings for Fidel, Enzo Roco, Omar Mascarell and Guido Carrillo from Elche, and Ante Budimir and Juan Cruz, for Osasuna.

Osasuna and Elche will next play away to Espanyol and Cádiz respectively.
