Elche 0 – Atleti 2: Los Colchoneros leave Estadio Martínez Valero with all 3 points

Elche fell to a home defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid at Estadio Martínez Valero on Wednesday. Elche were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Cádiz. Atleti, on the other hand, were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against R Madrid in their last match. After today’s result, Elche are in 14th place on the table and has 39 points while Atleti sit in 3rd with 67 points after 36 matches.

Atleti scored first, with Matheus Cunha finding the net, 28 minutes in, finishing the first half 0-1.

Los Colchoneros continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Rodrigo De Paul finding the net, 62 minutes in. The game ended with a 2-0 victory for the visitors.

For Elche, Guido Carrillo, Josan, Kike Perez, Javier Pastore and Raúl Guti, came on for Lucas Boye, Tete Morente, Fidel, Pere Milla and Omar Mascarell. Atleti brought on Renan Lodi, Hector Herrera, Angel Correa, Felipe and Luis Suarez, to replace Sime Vrsaljko, Antoine Griezmann, Rodrigo De Paul, Yannick Carrasco and Matheus Cunha.

There were bookings for Pere Milla and Pedro Bigas from Elche, and Renan Lodi and Koke, for Atleti.

Elche will next play Celta Vigo away, with Atleti facing Seville at home.
