Celta Vigo strolled past Elche with a 1-0 win on Sunday at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Celta arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Barcelona. Elche, on the other hand, were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Atletico Madrid. As it stands, Celta are in 10th place, with 46 points from 37 matches, while Elche sit in 15th, with 39 points from 37.

The Sky Blues started the game well, with Denis Suarez finding the net, at 9 minutes, finalising the first half 1-0. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

For Celta, Renato Tapia, Carlos Dominguez, Gabriel Veiga and Jose Fontán, came on for Kevin Vazquez, Augusto Solari, Fran Beltran and Thiago Galhardo. Elche brought on Ezequiel Ponce, Tete Morente, Raúl Guti, Javier Pastore and Omar Mascarell, to replace Pablo Piatti, Guido Carrillo, Kike Perez, Gerard Gumbau and Ivan Marcone.

There were bookings for Javi Galan and Renato Tapia from Celta, and Ivan Marcone and Tete Morente, for Elche.

Celta will next play Valencia away, with Elche facing Getafe at home.
