Cádiz 1 – Villarreal 0: Visitors to Estadio Ramon de Carranza leave with nothing

Cádiz beat Villarreal with a thumping 1-0 victory on Sunday at Estadio Ramon de Carranza. Cádiz were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Atletico Madrid. Villarreal were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Celta Vigo. As the table looks today, Cádiz and Villarreal currently occupy 17th and 7th spots in the league, with 27 points and 45 points respectively after 29 matches.

Following a goalless first half, gaditano applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Ruben Sobrino finding the net just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 1-0.

For Cádiz, Lucas Perez, Jose Mari, Ruben Sobrino and Fali, came on for Anthony Lozano, Ivan Alejo, Fede San Emeterio and Oussama Idrissi. Villarreal brought on Francis Coquelin, Etienne Capoue, Arnaut Danjuma, Gerard Moreno and Yeremi Pino, to replace Dani Parejo, Vicente Iborra, Moi Gomez, Boulaye Dia and Samuel Chukwueze.

There were bookings for Anthony Lozano, Oussama Idrissi and Fede San Emeterio from Cádiz. For Villarreal, Pau Torres and Etienne Capoue saw yellow.
