Barcelona banked all three points against the Elche in a 3-0 victory on Saturday, at the Nou Camp. Barca were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games against Cádiz away and Seville away, by 4-0 and 3-0 respectively, while Elche had lost their previous match against Athletic Bilbao. Barca and Elche currently occupy 2nd and 20th spots in the table, with 13 points and 1 point respectively after 6 matches.

Barca started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Robert Lewandowski opened the rout, 34 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Memphis Depay made it 2-0 just before half-time, ending the first half 2-0.

Los Blaugranas started the second half with renewed vigour, with an early second effort from Robert Lewandowski in the 48th minute, which sealed the victory for Barca.

Substitutions for Barca included Gavi, Ansu Fati, Raphinha, Hector Bellerin and Ferran Torres for Franck Kessie, Memphis Depay, Ousmane Dembele, Eric Garcia and Robert Lewandowski, respectively. Elche brought on Nicolas Ezequiel Fernandez Mercau, Domingos Quina, Ezequiel Ponce, Josan and Diego Gonzalez, to replace Raúl Guti, Fidel, Tete Morente, Lucas Boye and Pedro Bigas.

The referee booked Franck Kessie and Ferran Torres from Barca. Elche had the worst of it though, with Pedro Bigas and Nicolas Ezequiel Fernandez Mercau seeing yellow, and Gonzalo Verdu then sent off with a red.

Elche and Barca will next play away to Rayo Vallecano and Mallorca respectively.
