Atletico Madrid 1-1 Rayo Vallecano: Atleti fail to get past Rayo at the Metropolitano

On Tuesday, Atleti and Rayo played out a 1-1 draw at Civitas Metropolitano. Atleti were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Athletic Bilbao away (1-0), the other to Girona at home (2-1) whilst Rayo were unable to beat Getafe in a 0-0 draw. Atleti are now in 3rd place on the table and have 20 points while Rayo sit in 10th with 12 points after 10 matches.

Atleti took the lead, when Alvaro Morata gave them the lead, at 20 minutes, concluding the first half 1-0.

Rayo took the initiative in the second half, when Falcao found the net just before the final whistle. The match ended 1-1.

Substitutions for Atleti included Yannick Carrasco, Angel Correa, Matheus Cunha and Saul Niguez for Thomas Lemar, Axel Witsel, Alvaro Morata and Rodrigo De Paul, respectively. Rayo brought on Santi Comesana, Sergio Camello, Pablo Munoz, Randy Nteka and Unai Lopez, to replace Jose Pozo, Óscar Valentín, Alvaro Garcia, Pathe Ciss and Isi Palazon.

The referee booked Stefan Savic, Saul Niguez and Jose Gimenez for Atleti.

Atleti will next travel to Real Betis, while Rayo will face Cádiz at home.
