Atletico Madrid 1-2 Real Madrid: Los Blancos win derby duel to stay perfect

Atleti on home loss to R Madrid at Civitas Metropolitano on Sunday. Both teams arrived fresh from some positive results. Atleti had been hopeful of continuing their good run, following a 4-1 victory against Celta Vigo whilst RMA were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Mallorca and Real Betis. Atleti and RMA currently occupy 7th and 1st spots in the league, with 10 points and 18 points respectively after 6 matches.

Los Blancos dominated the first half, when Rodrygo found the net, at 18 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Federico Valverde made it 2-0 in the 36th minute to secure a 2-0 win.

Atleti took the lead in the second half, when Mario Hermoso found the net on the 83 minute mark, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for Atleti included Alvaro Morata, Matheus Cunha, Mario Hermoso, Angel Correa and Saul Niguez for Rodrigo De Paul, Joao Felix, Yannick Carrasco, Koke and Geoffrey Kondogbia, respectively. RMA brought on Antonio Rudiger, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Ceballos and Marco Asensio, to replace Ferland Mendy, Luka Modric, Rodrygo and Toni Kroos.

The referee booked six players. Reinildo Mandava, Koke and Mario Hermoso from Atleti, who saw yellow cards and Mario Hermoso (2 yellow cards), sent off with a red, as well as for RMA Ferland Mendy and Dani Carvajal also seeing yellows.

Atleti will next travel to Seville, while RMA will face Osasuna at home.
