RMA to take their top place form to Atleti, in Sunday’s 9:00pm GMT fixture at Wanda Metropolitano.

Both Atleti and RMA currently share Champion’s League qualification hopes, as they sit fourth and first in the League, respectively.

Atletico Madrid have so far accrued 61 points in this season of the LaLiga

With a win in their previous game, (2-0) against Athletic Bilbao, Atleti will likely be in a positive frame of mind.

Also, Atleti keep finding ways to win, having secured 10 victories in their last 16 games is astonishing this season, which is responsible for their Champion’s League qualification position. They currently stand fourth in the League, with 61 points for a total of 18 wins, 9 losses and 7 draws having won 18 fixtures, drawn seven meetings, and lost nine matches.

Atleti have won 11 matches, drawn four meetings, and lost two matches of their 17 League matches at home this season.

Atletico Madrid will see 64 points so far this season, should they secure a win.

Good Attacking Performance

Atleti will be pleased to have a good goal scoring record so far this season (59). This has been largely down to the key attacking players: Joao Felix (6), Luis Suarez (4), and Angel Correa (4). Atleti have conceded 41 goals.

It is likely that four key players will miss Sunday’s fixture, which is something of a concern for Diego Simeone and his Atleti team.

To retain first position in the LaLiga is R Madrid’s target this week

RMA will be keen to retain their winning form, having beaten Espanyol 4-0 in their last fixture.

Also, League leaders RMA keep finding ways to win, having secured 15 victories in their last 20 games is astonishing this season. They are worthy of their place within the Champion’s League zone. With 25 wins, 3 losses and 6 draws for a total of 81 points so far this season, they have secured the top spot in the LaLiga having won 25 fixtures, drawn six matches, and lost three fixtures.

RMA have won 13 games, drawn two matches, and lost two meetings of their 17 League matches on the road this season.

The ultimate prize this season will be for R Madrid to finish top of the LaLiga and secure automatic qualification for the Champion’s League. However, they must play each game as it comes and secure the points, if that is to be achieved.

Good atacking and defensive team

RMA have conceded 29 goals so far, so their defence can be considered to be strong. RMA have a good scoring record this season, with 73 netted so far (67 from open play and six penalties). This has been largely down to the key attacking players: Karim Benzema (9), Marco Asensio (5), and Rodrygo (3).

RMA may have to resort to second choice players, given the number of first choice players that are now unavailable through injury, illness or suspension.
