Athletic Bilbao 0 – Valencia 0: Points shared at San Mames Stadium in goal-less draw

Saturday’s fixture between Athletic Bilbao and Valencia delivered a goalless draw at San Mames Stadium. Athletic Bilbao were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the Atletico Madrid at home (2-0), the other to Cádiz away (3-2). Valencia, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Levante. Following today’s result, Athletic Bilbao are in 7th place, with 52 points from 35 matches, while Valencia sit in 10th, with 44 points from 35.

For Athletic Bilbao, Unai Vencedor, Asier Villalibre, Alex Berenguer, Oier Zarraga and Alex Petxa, came on for Dani Garcia, Raul Garcia, Nicholas Williams, Mikel Vesga and Oscar De Marcos. Valencia brought on Hugo Guillamon, Uros Racic, Goncalo Guedes and Jesus Santiago Perez, to replace Gabriel Paulista, Moriba Ilaix, Yunus Musah and Carlos Soler.

The referee booked Yeray Alvarez, Inaki Williams, Oscar De Marcos and Unai Simon from Athletic Bilbao. Valencia had the worst of it though, with Mouctar Diakhaby, Moriba Ilaix and Hugo Guillamon seeing yellow, and Hugo Guillamon (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Athletic Bilbao will next travel to Granada, while Valencia will face Real Betis at home.
