Athletic Bilbao 2 – Atleti 0: Home victory for The Lions against Los Colchoneros

Athletic Bilbao strolled past Atletico Madrid with a 2-0 win on Saturday at San Mames Stadium. Athletic Bilbao were looking to continue their run after winning last match. Atleti, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. As the table looks today, Athletic Bilbao are in 8th place, with 51 points from 34 matches, while Atleti sit in 4th, with 61 points from 34.

It was an impressive opening from The Lions, thanks to Mario Hermoso finding the net, 8 minutes in. The score at half time was 1-0.

Athletic Bilbao continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Inaki Williams, 56 minutes in. The game ended 2-0.

There were bookings for Dani Garcia, Inaki Williams and Alex Berenguer from Athletic Bilbao, and Mario Hermoso, Reinildo Mandava and Renan Lodi, for Atleti.

Athletic Bilbao next face Valencia and Atleti are at home to R Madrid.
