Alaves 2 – Valencia 1: The Bats unable to avoid defeat at the Estadio de Mendizorroza

Valencia fell to an away defeat at the hands of Alaves at the Estadio de Mendizorroza on Sunday. Alaves were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last game 3-1 to Elche. Valencia had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Real Sociedad. As things stand, Alaves and Valencia sit 19th, (17 points) and 12th, (30 points), in the league respectively, after 24 matches.
Alaves started the first half well, thanks to Mamadou Loum giving The glorious one the lead, 14 minutes in, finalising the first half 1-0.
The Bats took the initiative in the second half, with Goncalo Guedes finding the net at the 62 minute mark. In the end though, Alaves at the 76 minute mark took the victory following a Joselu goal. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 2-1 to Alaves.
For Alaves, Edgar Mendez and Pere Pons, came on for Luis Rioja and Jason. Valencia brought on Hugo Duro, Maxi Gomez, Bryan Salvatierra, Dimitri Foulquier and Hugo Guillamon for Carlos Soler, Helder Costa, Marcos De Sousa, Thierry Correia and Eray Comert.
There were bookings for Facundo Tenaglia, Tomas Pina, Gonzalo Escalante and Victor Laguardia from Alaves, and Mouctar Diakhaby, Lato Toni and Bryan Salvatierra, for Valencia.
Alaves will next travel to R Madrid, while Valencia will face Barcelona at home.
