Alaves 1 – Rayo 0: The glorious one take all 3 points at the Estadio de Mendizorroza

Alaves snatched all three points from Rayo Vallecano in a 1-0 victory on Saturday, at the Estadio de Mendizorroza. Alaves were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last game 1-0 to Osasuna. Rayo had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Valencia. As it stands, Alaves are in 19th place, with 25 points from 32 matches, while Rayo sit in 14th, with 34 points from 32.

Following a goalless first half, The glorious one applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Joselu giving Alaves the lead in the 64th minute. The game ended 1-0 to Alaves.

For Alaves, Manu Garcia, Ruben Duarte, Martin Aguirregabiria, Tomas Pina and Miguel De la Fuente, came on for Jason, Ximo Navarro, Edgar Mendez, Gonzalo Escalante and Luis Rioja. Rayo replaced Randy Nteka, Francisco Garcia, Santi Comesana and Óscar Valentín for Oscar Trejo, Unai Lopez, Bebe and Mario Hernandez.

The referee booked Gonzalo Escalante and Ruben Duarte from Alaves. Rayo had the worst of it though, with Randy Nteka, Nikola Maras and Isi Palazon seeing yellow, and Ivan Balliu then sent off with a red.

Next up, Alaves are away to Mallorca, whilst Rayo will travel to face Espanyol.
