SPAL 1 – Benevento 2: Visitors steal the show at Stadio Paolo Mazza

Benevento enjoyed an away victory against SPAL at Stadio Paolo Mazza on Saturday. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. SPAL were aiming to improve their league standing after a scoreless draw against Ternana Calcio in their previous match. Benevento had secured a point against SSC Bari in their previous match. SPAL and Benevento are 12th, (15 points) and 16th, (14 points), in the table respectively, after 13 matches.

SPAL started the match strongly, when Salvatore Esposito found the net on the 8 minute mark. They then managed to see out the first half 1-0.

Benevento continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Capellini, 73 minutes in. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from La Gumina in the 76th minute to make it 2-1.

Substitutions for SPAL included Luca Valzania, Rabbi, Tripaldelli, Almici and Tunjov for La Mantia, Maistro, Raffaele Celia, Moncini and Dickmann, respectively. Benevento brought on Forte, Masciangelo and Ilias Koutsoupias for Leverbe, Foulon and Diego Farias.

The referee booked eight players. Dickmann, Murgia, Raffaele Celia and La Mantia from SPAL, who saw yellow cards and Peda, sent off with a red, as well as for Benevento Schiattarella, Glik and Ilias Koutsoupias received yellows.

Next up, SPAL are away to Brecia Calcio, whilst Benevento will travel to face Reggina.
