Opening first leg ends in 1-1 Draw for Villarreal & Juventus

The hosts started the game having secured 2nd place in the group, with 10 points while, for their part, The Zebras arrived having secured top of Group H, with a total of 15 points. This result will diss-point the home team more, as Unai Emery’s squad must know get a win, away from home, in the play-off of the Champions League.
Juve found the net first, with an early goal from Dusan Vlahovic in the 1st minute, seeing out the first half 0-1.
Villarreal took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Dani Parejo, 66 minutes in and seeing the game end 1-1.
For Villarreal, Manu Trigueros, Pervis Estupinan, Yeremi Pino and Boulaye Dia, came on for Alberto Moreno, Alfonso Pedraza, Samuel Chukwueze and Arnaut Danjuma. Juve replaced Alex Sandro, Manuel Locatelli, Weston McKennie and Mattia De Sciglio for Leonardo Bonucci, Arthur, Denis Zakaria and Luca Pellegrini.
There were bookings for Geronimo Rulli from Villarreal, and Adrien Rabiot, for Juve.
This will be a very well received result for, on the back of a dismal draw in the first leg. It sets the stage for them well as they now move forward to the next stage of the Champions League.
